Working with interpreters

Client: Centrelink - Multicultural Services

Description: A dramatised training video featuring 22 actors speaking seven languages.

It was aimed at government employees who had to deal with non English speaking clients via an interpreter. In some cases the government employees were NESBs and so the language had to be very carefully crafted to work for people with diverse language abilities.

The video showed both good and bad approaches to effective communication using an interpreter and was accompanied by a print based self study guide.

Award Winner: Commonwealth Government Workplace Diversity Award 1998.
